What The Beast Left Behind

I've been reading lovecraft lately, as you can see, but this painting made me slightly mad, not because is set far after the stories were told to happen (cthulhu can apear anytime right?) but because is unbalanced, and I can't fix it.
initially I was trying to paint out the "wrong" city that is mentioned on the book, but I realized I couldn't be painted halfway, and it ended up like this, still, is not a bad painting just a little too anyoing I'd say.
