I totally give up, I worked so much on this and yet I can't see what to put on that plate on the focus, In the begginin this ipcture was cuter and... pinker, but it ended like that.
Hmmm.......You're right, it's hard to decide what should go on that plate. But I think your decision to leave it be was also a good one; it's so open to interpretation and viewers can let their minds wander.
For myself, at first I saw a person, standing alone, standing firm. About to face a huge obstacle before them.
Then I thought, well what if it were to be even more abstract and more deep? And I thought of a decaying rose.
Shame on me because at first I looked at this picture without reading the description and tried to understand what it means. Well I think it was the first time that it was useful that I had no idea that you originally planned something for the plate. The title says "Selfless Emotion" and after thinking about that for some time and looking at the picture this makes, even if you didn't plan it, alot of sense. I think there is no selfless emotion. Emotions are reactions of happenings around us, our environment. Emotions can never develop without the influence of others and even if you feel pity for someone, it serves a specific purpose. The purpose to protect yourself from what you see or maybe to think about what you never want to experience. In some way, the empty place on the plate makes alot of sense to me and I know, this is just a possible interpretation of a potential of a thousand of others. The Dark holes around the plate may symbolize other emotions that serve a similar purpose and establish a contrast between the "shining" and lit plate. The fact that there is nothing implies a certain way of irony on that subject matter. The execution of this painting is rather minimal but it serves the purpose. The paradox here is that the dark holes are displayed in a way that expresses low value and facing the center of the piece where the empty plate is arranged. The fact that it's lit supports the impression of higher value even if there is no emotion that is superior to the ones around it. I basically want to say that you can leave the piece as it is if you agree with my interpretation. I hope you get what I mean and I don't carry my critique to excess.
Now, that a large comment. well at first this cave was actually a heart were the vains are now the holes so its from there that emotion came expecially because now is a lonely cave, is selfless because the emotion has no self to express itself (am...) the meotion is there but the character isn't. also I don't think the term emotion would need a rational explanation
Oh yes, shame on you for not reading the description, thanks for the... textual critique (I can't call that a comment)
